Delete your Kept account

You can delete your Kept account at any time. This page explains the two ways to do it, what is removed, and what is kept because the law requires it. It is also the page Google Play links to for account deletion requests.

In the app

1. Open Kept and go to Settings.
2. Tap Delete account at the bottom.
3. Read what goes and what stays, then tap Delete my account and confirm.

The deletion happens right away. You are signed out, and the login stops working.

By email

If you no longer have the app, send an email from the address of your Kept account to info@keptgoals.com with the subject Delete my Kept account. Please write from the account's own email address, so we can tell the request is yours. We may ask you to confirm from that address before we act. We process email requests within 30 days and confirm by email when it is done.

When the deletion has to wait

A deletion is refused while money is still open on the account:

• a check-in is pending, submitted, or under appeal, or
• a stake is being reviewed, charged, or refunded.

Finish or cancel your open goals and wait for any open charge to settle, then try again. This protects you as much as us: an account cannot disappear in the middle of a decision about your money.

What is deleted

• Your login, email address, and password.
• Your display name.
• Your proof photos and screenshots, and the camera details stored with them (time taken, make, model, image size).
• Your saved card at our payment processor, and the card details shown in the app.
• Your push notification tokens and your notification history.
• The text of any appeals you wrote.

What is kept, and why

Kept charges money when a check-in is missed. The law requires businesses to keep records of payments and of the agreements behind them. For that reason the following stay after deletion, without your name or email address, tied only to an internal account number:

• the goals you signed for, with their schedules and stakes;
• the agreements (mandates) you signed and the electronic signature image;
• the record of which Terms of Service and Privacy Policy versions you accepted, and when;
• the record of each check-in's outcome and of each charge and refund.

These records are kept for the retention period German commercial and tax law sets for business records (currently eight to ten years, depending on the type of record) and for as long as a payment dispute can still be raised. They are not used for anything else and are not shared, except with our payment processor and tax or legal authorities when the law requires it. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.
